  25. : The cause of your problem is very simple. By setting S32=16 you have disabled 
  26. : V.8 . V.8 is required for V.34 operation, when it is disabled the next 
  27. : available protocol is V.FC. If your ISP doesn't support V.FC (many don't)  
  28. : then the next available protocol is V32bis (14.4k). Set S32=18 and you'll 
  29. : disable V.34+ and reenable V.8. You should have no problems connecting at 
  30. : V.34. If you still do you might want to set S15=128 to disable V.42 and force 
  31. : MNP. Some Motorola rack systems have problems with V.42 and USR.

  33. I question your analysis of the S32=16 command.  According to my USR 33.6 
  34. manual it shows the following:

  37.     0    1    v.8 call indicate enabled
  38.     1    2    enable v.8 mode
  39.     2    4    disable v.fc mode
  40.     3    8    disable v.34 mode
  41.     4    16    disable 33.6 support
  42.     (the rest are reserved)

  44. My interpretation is that an S=18 would disable 33.6 and enable v.8. 
  45. (Maybe that's what you meant, but not what you wrote.)

  47. I'm trying to connect thru Klos PPP with my new Sportster.  I'm trying to 
  48. connect with v.34 so I set my init string to S32=20 to turn off v.fc and 
  49. 33.6.  Still no luck.  Any suggestions?
