- : The cause of your problem is very simple. By setting S32=16 you have disabled
- : V.8 . V.8 is required for V.34 operation, when it is disabled the next
- : available protocol is V.FC. If your ISP doesn't support V.FC (many don't)
- : then the next available protocol is V32bis (14.4k). Set S32=18 and you'll
- : disable V.34+ and reenable V.8. You should have no problems connecting at
- : V.34. If you still do you might want to set S15=128 to disable V.42 and force
- : MNP. Some Motorola rack systems have problems with V.42 and USR.
-
- I question your analysis of the S32=16 command. According to my USR 33.6
- manual it shows the following:
-
- Bit Value Result
- 0 1 v.8 call indicate enabled
- 1 2 enable v.8 mode
- 2 4 disable v.fc mode
- 3 8 disable v.34 mode
- 4 16 disable 33.6 support
- (the rest are reserved)
-
- My interpretation is that an S=18 would disable 33.6 and enable v.8.
- (Maybe that's what you meant, but not what you wrote.)
-
- I'm trying to connect thru Klos PPP with my new Sportster. I'm trying to
- connect with v.34 so I set my init string to S32=20 to turn off v.fc and
- 33.6. Still no luck. Any suggestions?
